2008 Update

  • Members with keys they must lock the gates when they go in and when they leave the airfield.
  • If there is military activity at Keevil we must report to the Officer or NCO in charge before flying - no exceptions
  • Check for targets put out and tented areas as a clue military might be there, it is not always evident with guards on the gate
  • If any military aircraft or helicopter approaches we are to land immediately - no exceptions
  • Care must be taken in case civil aircraft or helicopters make emergency landings - club members to land immediately then find out what is going on.
  • Before flying always check the notice board for any information about flying restrictions.
  • If you find yourself in the middle of an exercise, please let me or a committee member know, so that we can put a message on the board and website. Send your mail to news@wrcfc.org.uk or sms to one of the committee members.
  • Please note that we are required to lock the gates when we enter and leave the airfield. This also applies during the weekends and Wednesdays when members of the Gliding club are there. If you belong to the lucky members that can fly during the week, and don't have a key yet, ask Andy Johnston.

Temporary Club Rules 23rd October 2007

Due to the current changes in access to the airfield at Keevil, the following list of Tempoary Rules has ben agreed by the Committee to cover the period until they can be incorporated in the Main Rules. The RAF need to know who is on the airfield at any one time and permisssion must be positively given by 'phone.

TEMPORARY RULE 1, "PARAMOUNT RULE"
Access to the airfield can only be granted by psitive 'phone permission given on a daily week-day basis from RAF Lyneham. Permission for Saturdays and Sundays is to be obtained on the preceding Friday by the same method. ON NO ACCOUNT IS ANYONE TO PROCEED THROUGH THE GATES WITHOUT THIS POSITIVE PERMISSION. If there is no reply from the Lyneham numbers DO NOT ENTER. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS PARAMOUNT RULE WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM THE CLUB.

The one exception to this is that we hope to have a new noticeboard attached to the Bannerdown sign structure and even if access is denied or no 'phone answer, you are allowed entry to update the board, then leave. (Note: A blackboard system is now in operation.)

TEMPORARY RULE 2.
The airfield is to be kept locked at all times after entering and leaving (unless gate is manned, see Temp. Rule 4).

To comply with Temp. Rule 1, the following Temp. Rule 3 is to be adopted.

TEMPORARY RULE 3.
The first person to arrive at the main gate is to 'phone Lyneham on one of the three numbers issued to WRCFC members.

On the gate noticeboard, ACCESS ALLOWED or ACCESS DENIED is to be displayed together with the DATE (the date is important as you will see).

The noticeboard is to be left as it is overnight so that when a member turns up the next day he will know from the displayed date whether or not he is the first to arrive. He then takes appropriate action, to 'phone or enter.

TEMPORARY RULE 4.
If the club is hosting an invitation event, for example Vintage Day, from a practical point of view the gates will be locked but manned by a rota of Club members. All personnel requiring access will be stopped and their business checked and names taken before they are permitted to enter. The Gliding Club will be informed about this.
